I just cracked my front windshield. Do you know what this costs to have replaced? My insurance policy does not cover this. Let me if any of you had to replace the windshield and how much it costs?

Our windshield are fairly expensive. I used to have all the glass prices available being as I was in insurance. You actually get a better price if you do NOT have insurance coverage. You could always get a used windshield out of a junker and put it in. If the crack is 14" (I think) or less they may be able to fix it. I think my windshield was $300 or so

Open your Yellow Pages and get some price quotes. Auto glass prices vary widely. If you just go to the nearest place you may be paying too much.

I am planning to call around for prices but I have been busy at work. In NYC we have tons of glass shops but I wanted to get an idea of what I was getting into before I called. Thanks for the help.

Price

I had a crack on my windshield (10 inch) 2 weeks ago 95 and replaced the windshield. Total was $150 including labor (brand new); plus he came to my work to put it in. It was an OEM one of course, but looked exactly like the original with the tint. I wasn't about to shell out $300-500 for an original one. My car is 6 years old now. Just get the cheapest you can find because there is a chance that it'll happen again.
