hood problems

The things that hold my hood up are no longer working. When I raise the hood it just slowly lowers again. Is there a way to fix this or do I just need new ones. Does any one know how much new ones would cost. Or would I just be better to find a pole to keep it up
Thanx
Austin

They're cheap. Try a part store. Try the stealership last.

Their called hood struts. you can find them at most auto parts store.
You can also get them at the dealership. Their kinda expensive, not sure what the dealer charges but most auto part stores charge about 30 bucks a piece. I got mine on ebay and paid close to forty for both shipped. You can use vise grips to hold it in the meantime. Just clamp them on the base of the hood strut when the hood is open.
