Production date for a 97 Question

I have a 97 that was made in 3/97, when did nissan switch over from the 96 ECU to a 97? which ecu do you think I have?

I'd be reletively sure that you have a 97. I dont know when they switched, but 3/97 is actually pretty late in the 97 production run. Early in the run would probably be like 5/96 or 6/96.

I thought that they switched to the 97 ecus in mid-late 96???

i'd call the dealer.. but they'll tell me that putting a 98 ECU in my 97 will increase the torque to 230 and they'll charge me $120/hr to swap and they'll take 4 hours because their programmer needs to program everything from scratch

Check this weird $hit out! Production date on my maxima is December 26th 1996. Same as my Girlfriends Birthday.

She's a keeper then (the Maxima that is). But don't worry, you can always find another girlfriend.

Back to the original topic, this is a good question. My '97 has a production date of 7/96 (and thus no free alternator). What are the differences between the '96 and '97 ECU's? Anything important?
