Kyb Agx Is Wack This Is Why!

I INSTALLED THEM DEC.2002, NOW END OF MAY 2003....AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE IS F**** UP, AND ITS POSITIONED ON THREE SO WHEN I PUSH DOWN IT BOUNCES LIKE NO TOMORROW AND MAKES A POP NOISE LIKE THE STRUT IS ABOUT TO BREAK OFF, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE MAKES SQUEEKING NOISES AND THERE BETTER BE A WARRANTY OR THERE IS HELL TO PAY
AM I MISSING SOMETHING...THESE ARE AFTERMARKET SPORT STRUTS MADE TO BE MORE DORABLE AND LONG LASTING SO WTF IS WRONG HERE
I DRIVE THE CAR LIKE WALKING ON ROCKS!"slow" SO HOW IS IT THAT THEY ARE GONE....PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME ON THIS WACK SITUATION
MUCH APPRECIATED....98MAXSE OWNER........

you installed them wrong, that's why they're all wack. Those are very good shocks... maybe you got the wrong kind or something. What model number shocks did you get and were they professionally installed?

I know that Ground Control sometimes specs the wrong shock for a particular car when you buy coilovers. For example, sometimes they take a shock for an Eclipse and say its good for a Maxima.

I once returned some Koni shocks to the manufacturer and noted they were used on a Maxima. They called me back to ask why I sent them Eclipse shocks. A Koni representative mentioned to me that Ground Control staff have a reputation for selling shocks for a particular model that they were not specifically designed for.

I bought my last set of shocks from the TireRack. Been on my car for a year and a half with no issues.

Most shocks cannot be expected to have good reliability with coilovers. They are designed to be effective with OEM springs or the most common progressive springs like Eibach or H&R.

The last time I talked with a Koni rep, he mentioned that they don't seem to care too much if the car is lowered with a reputable spring like an Eibach or H&R even though they technically don't have to honor the warranty on shocks installed on a lowered car.

Check the strut bearings that are installed at the upper mount. They are shaped like a disk and are about the size of a quarter coin. They can trasmit a side load onto the lock nut of the piston everytime you turn the steering wheel causing the piston to loosen up and making for a very mushy feeling shock. Koni correct that issue by putting loctite on the piston nut since they found that many cars have fairly underengineered strut bearings. Maybe the same thing is happening with your KYBs.

Turn your caps off man, jeez. Sounds like a blown strut to me. I've never heard of a blown AGX. They have a lifetime warranty if you dont drop them over like 1.5" - I'm guessing you installed it wrong because you couldn't read the installation instructions since they weren't all in CaPZ!

AHemmmmmm it could be your springs, what do you have, and if it lowers your car at about 2 inch or more then your KYB AGX won't be warranteed.
