10000k HID Kit
I am planning to buy that kit used of a maxima.org member, I was wondering is used hid kit worth $300 shipped? Also if anyone has one, is there a big diffrence between the 8500k and the 10000k?? Thanks

^ You bought them from someone who stole them?.. heh jk. 10000k is really stupid, cops would be pulling U-turns to ticket your a$s. Not to mention the fact that the light output is probably close to that of a halogen bulb, unless the ballasts are like 65w.
None of them. BMW uses projector lights. Your 4th gen headlight housing will NEVER look like BMW lights. Maybe if you mounted a projector housing inside your stock housing. Some people have done that. But as it is now, never. In my opinion, the blue HID lights in 4th gen housings look terrible! It looks like a big messy blob of glaring blue light. Nothing says rice like a big ball of badly aimed blue HIDs that don't do jack in bad weather.

I personally seen these on the sellers car...they are extremly bright. I couldnt look into it directly without seeing spots..lol...he said they are hard to come by, I also asked about the 10k system to my local car stereo buddy, he said that as well...
hey MaxedOutOfCash u got PM..

Go with 4300k to 5200k heat range HIDs. They won't look blue like the BMWs but they will work excellent. The blue that you see from audi and bmw is a side effect of the quartz lens. The light isn't blue. The light is white at the middle of the beam pattern. 4300-5200 will give you a very daylight looking beam. Will be great in bad weather. =)

i havent tested mine in bad weather as of yet, but compared to the amount of light hitting the road surface when stock halogens were in, this is much better. some of the stock HIDs (not including projector-based situations) appear too close to halogen output...I would have to include the stock 2002-2003 lights...if you are in front of one of those, it is sometimes difficult to tell whether the car behind you has real HIDs or PIAA superwhites (or whatever else are made to look like HIDs). Some of the Acuras are much more purple, and you can definately tell the Q45 HIDs are in fact HIDs when one of those are behind you.

Im curious about your experience buying from misterjung.com, I'm looking at the page right now and it doesnt really say whether or not the kit is in stock, were you notified about the delay or did they just show up one day a month later?

Be careful if you buy from him make sure you contact him first.
Let me see if I can clarify a few things here. Firstly, I have 8000K HID and it is just fine in the rain. No decreased visibility at all, due to the colour.
Secondly, MaximaGLE1 can you find out how many LUMENS this 10000K HID kit is? That number is more important than the colour temperature of 10000K. The lumen rating is the brightness. As long as you have a high lumen rating, you can run 12000K bulbs without any problems (outside of cops not liking the colour and possibly pulling you over). Also, our gen 4 headlight housings give a nice scattered beam pattern which will do nothing but annoy other drivers... haha... but it looks awesome and it is damn bright if you get a high lumen rating.
Find out and let us know. I am curious about that.
As for the HID kit, look at my cardomain site and you'll see what the 8000K kit looks like... the lumen rating is 3200lm by the way.

In simpler words... 10000K does not equal headlight glass burning.

Again, let me clarify... the kelvin rating (eg 10000K) is the colour temperature and has nothing to do with the power draw/output. The kelvin rating just tells you what colour will be output - period.

Well when it comes to color temperatures the less color you get the more you are going to see on the road even if the lumen rating is very high. Blue color usually fades on black roads + rain look like if you Headlights were tuned off. Here is a good aticle about HID. README

Heh, ok one last question..regarding redlinemax.com HIDs in the old thread about her GD, it says that the 8500k actually has less color and sems to have more lumens than the 6500k kit.. Has anyone seen both of them in person, because it seems obvious that the 8500k kit should have way more color, but she claims the opposite. When I eventually get a HID kit I'd be trying to get something with very little color and more lumens, would the 8500k fit the bill?.

Mine's one of them but I don't regret the purchase... worth every penny to see entire city blocks light up in front of me! haha
