I saw it on my neighbors Lexus RX330 and i love the look i was wondering if anyone has put on a Clear cover on their taillights and just used colored bulbs? Any Pictures on Maximas or help/info/links would be appreciated.

Definitely illegal in California. You have to have the clear lenses with the red circle in the middle of them so there is always some red showing whether the actual light is on or not.

Ditto for Washington. Your break lenses have to be red.

Legalities never stopped the RX before - I've always wondered how they can get away with the bronze tint in the rear off the floor . Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it is legal...

(Yeah, I'm still bitter that 75% of truck & SUV tint appears darker than mine in past two cars, but I managed to get 2 tint tickets in 3 months).

well first lay off the caps lock button, and second, anythings possible....with money...

As far as the RX, they will have ALL CLEARS, so it is legal, what matters is that the lights are red inside, and that there is a reflector either on the bumper, or in the light assembly visible from the side of the car...

Its a tricky law, and obviously Toyota felt like pushing the limits. Their pretty ugly though...

I think you are talking about clear colored plastics which are not cheap, as opposed to standard red or yellow rear and front lenses

The RX330 has red reflectors on the bumpers. There are no clears avail. for the 97-99 maxima. But they are available for the 1995-96, these are very hard to come by though. If you do find them and buy them, you will need red bulbs for the tail/brake lights, and amber/clear for the turn signals, and white for reverse. If you want to be 100% legal about it, you can use reflective red tape and paste it along your bumper, or trunk, or something, generic reflectors should work too.

Most of them are tinted inside the glass from the dealer with 20% tint, making that illegal in most states but not so much illegal.

Actually no....it's not legal...in Washington State. I have the RCW printed on this. RCW = Revised Code of Washington.....the books of our laws.

Red brake lenses is not a federaly mandated thing. It determined by individual states. California and Washington have unambiguous, very specific laws that state BRAKE LIGHTS MUST APPEAR TO BE RED WHEN NOT ILLUMINATED.
