That's the problem with the HID's you lose high beam because the bulb only has one setting so you will lose the high beam but you don't really need it, i have driven all over the country and they are great.

Everything is connected fine, it's normal. None of us have high beam.

Theres a way to get high beams but you pay double of what you it is now. And I don't think no one wants to spend that much money on something they won't even use. Unless you in drive in the country.

you can buy dual-filament bulbs that contain both hi and low beams in one bulb ($$$$), or you could get a set of headlights from another car and have them fitted to yours ($$$$$$$)

HID don't have filament. The way the Hi-Low beam HID work is by adjustign the position of the bulb. So the HID Hi-Low kit has an electric adjuster that moves the bulb up & down or back & forward. It just moves to the position where the High beam filament would be. And yeah these kits usually go over $500. Catz makes some of these kits.

Did he not say that one side does not work anymore, after he toggled the high beam? That's what I gathered from his first post.

oh yea! back to topic. So you said that when you move the working bulb to the non-working side the bulb won't work?
Check your connections to the ballast make sure its getting power. If that don't work chances are that you might just have a bad ballast.
If what you are saying is that they turn off when you hit the high beams. Well thats normal if you didn't connect the Hi-beam wire to the positive wire of the kit. What kind of kit you have?

you probably have a bad ballast. This happened to me when i first got my kit and installed it. Everythign was installed correctly, and it worked for that night. THe next day when I simply relocated one of the ballasts, it never worked after relocation. About 10 mins later, the other one went out too, and I had to send them back for new ones.
