'03 17's on a '96...problems/worries?
I just had some 2003 Maxima 17's put on my 1996 last night, and I am just wondering what, if anything, will I need to watch for/change on my car. Will I have to change anything with the suspension to accomodate for the difference in size? Also, noticed that my CAI doesn't growl nearly as loud ( I am supposing that this has to do with the added weight from the rims). Any help would be appreciated!
What is the tire size on those 17's? the overall size of the wheel/tire combination could cause your speedometer and odometer to be off a bit, but you can drive by one of those signs that is like "The speed limit is x, you are going" and then shows you your speed. That will show you how accurate your speedo is. Could it be that whatever tires are on there have a louder tread pattern so you hear the road more and the CAI less?
I thought 95-99 maximas had 205/65/15 stock tire size... in which case 225/50/17 tires would be a tiny bit bigger, only 1.4% too slow
Ideal tire size for 17s I would say is 215/50/17 which are 0.1% off which is nothing..

Don't worry about the speedo and such. I've been riding around with 2K 17's, also with the 225/50 tires. As mentioned earlier it will be off by 1 or 2%, but even at 100mph that's only 1 or 2mph off, so it's no biggie.
They will slow you down some due to the bigger overall diameter and the extra weight (27lbs/wheel, I believe.. pretty heavy for 17s)
But damn do they look good...
