OBX Cat back

I wanted to know the quality of this cat back.. does it compete with the greddy and apexi? Is it louder or quieter and is it polised? Will it produce signficant gains with my new trubo? Who recomends it and who has pics of it installed? thanks alot John

Uhm, so you bought a turbo kit and are running on the stock cat-back? Is the "turbo" by any chance made by Tornado? You will want 3" pipes for a turbocharged maxima, so don't buy the OBX. Some people are getting them with 2.25" pipes and others with 2.5", its supposedly the most quiet out of the ones you listed, and yes it is polished.

I know a few 4thgens around my way that have the obx catback. IMO it's quieter then the Greddy and Apexi one.

I have the OBX and the only thing I had to do was put hose clamps on the rubber hangers to properly align the tip. It's not very quiet combined with the CAI and Y-pipe, but not loud either. It's a smooth deep sound.

Looks wise it's real nice. When my car is next to a Maxima with a Greddy SP, you can BARELY tell the difference in tip size (OBX is 4" and Greddy is 4.5") and the mufflers look identical. Nice polished SS shines real good when clean. It's also 2.5" and has 2 resonators on the B-pipe

You definately do not want the OBX with a turbo... whether its 2.25" or 2.5" you need larger. 3.0" turbo back is what you need if you indeed are turbo.

I think pretty much everyone with a turbocharged maxima is running with custom 3" turbo back pipes. Did you buy Hal or Nigels kit or is it a custom job??... cause I thought both of those came with the full exhaust. There is no mass produced 3" catback specifically designed for the maxima, so basically anything made by one of the large name performance companies is going to be too restrictive. You'll probably also wanna replace the cat with a 3" straight pipe, I think it'll melt if you dont.

No I got the kit from custommaxima. But the guy who installed the kit..... VERY VERY reputable said a greddy or apexi would be good. Casue im not running rediculous amonts of HP. so a 2.5 should be fine...

It seems you are the first one to get the Custommaxima Turbo. But I don't see the turbo up for sale on their website. How did you get it?
