speed governor question...

Hey guys, I'm about to remove the speed governor out of my 98 GXE and I have only one question. Will the CEL be on all the time when I cut the wires? If so, how long will the CEL stay on for?

Thanks!

Yeah, if you are removing the limiter by cutting the wire on the ECU then yes, the SES light will be on all the times.

That's what I was afraid of. Oh well, I'm going to leave it alone I guess.

I think if you wire it to a switch and only use it when doing 120+ the SES won't have time to come on, just make sure to flip the switch back when ur done trying to kill urself.

Re: speed governor question...

Wire a switch to the CEL. Leave it off till you want to pull codes.

Wiring a switch is easy - when you cut the pink/blue wire, just solder the ends to longer wires and run them through a toggle switch.

In the on position, the switch allows the current to pass, so you don't get a CEL.
In the off position, the circuit is broken and you can go faster than the speed limiter allows.

The CEL only comes on after about 15-20 minutes of driving with the speed limiter circuit broken.

Here's where I put my switch. (the red thing next to the fuse box panel)
