D@mn leaking front clears! What to do?

Ok...I had my fugly yellow turn signals on the front changed to clears...pretty right? Right! Anyways...ever since they were installed I have had a problem with H20 seeping in (but only on the passenger side). I have taken it out, completely dried it, reinstalled (sealing with caulk) and it is still getting water into it! So I am imploring all of the Maximaniacs out there to help me get this crap to stop...It is ruining my appearances!

Same w/my passenger side, though I've been too lazy to pop it back out. So you can take it apart easily?

Have you double and triple checked for small leaks? I'm trying to think of some way to check leaks that would work on those...gotta be someway you can use canned air to help find 'em...

Yeah,it is pretty easy to take them out (mine are 2 parters on each side)...I hadn't ever thought about using canned air to try and find the leak though...that is a great idea, maybe that will solve my dilema!

Well, hopefully once I find out exactly where the leak(s) are coming from I will be able to reseal with the caulk better, if that doesn't work CRY!

Next, no clears are not always PITA's like this, a friend of mine has the same car I do and his clears haven't given him any problems. I am a little unsure as to why some do and some don't (give prob's).

Caulk...you can get it anywhere (Wal-Mart, K-Mart, AutoZone) I would use an automotive caulk (I have used the regular house caulk that was suppose to seal plastic and we see how well that did the first time ). It comes in a tube that you squeeze out (I used a caulk gun) but I am fairly sure that you can buy the kind that you can use without buying a caulk gun (it is just a mechanism to get the caulk outta the tube anyways). You apply it kinda like glue (real simple stuff man).

I would wait to see if your clears even leak before worrying about the caulk issue though.

that would suck if i ahd to use caoul >ie changing the blulbs when they dies. but i guess some corners when made are slighlty off the size of thge stock conrers either to small or to big letting water in. DC i know usually dont leak cause are made right on scale. EBAYS i guess are prone to leaking. thanx for your help. (btw... born greek ;-) )

I've had my clears for 2 years now with no problems. I seem to recall that at some point there was a bad shipment of clears from wherever (Japan maybe?) that were not made the same and had leaking issues. I think Custome Maxima had a shipment like that at one point and sent them back because of it. I could be wrong though it was a while ago. Its possible you got a set of those ??

It is very possible that I have one of those sets...I guess I am going to try to solve the problem one more time, after that...man to the moon they go! Guess I'll just have to get a new set if this time I can't get them to stop seeping.

I don't know what you guys are talking about when you refer to 'caulk', but I used clear weatherproof silicone sealant to seal up my clears. Apply a nice thick bead to the housing/lens joint and you should be good to go. The dried silicone also helps prevent those things from rattling around in the bumper recess...makes 'em fit nice and snug.

That is exactly what I am referring to when I say "caulk"....just didn't know how else to explain it, I have always heard it referred to as caulk (maybe it is a southern thing?)
