Made up my mind. Getting Rear AGX for now, everything else stock What else do I need?
OK, since my cash flow is low, i'm going to just get the rear AGX struts for now. Keeping everything else stock including the springs. I know for sure that I need new strut mounts but not sure what else.
Could someone please give me a simple list of the things that go in the rear only. I heard about the motivational mounts and plan on replacing the stock mounts with those. Is that all I need? I hope it is cause like i said, the flow is low.

Motivational mounts are only used on lowered vehicles. You'll over extend the shock if you use those mounts at the stock ride height. The rear mounts should be just find. Just throw the AGX's back there and enjoy the way they keep the rear beam planted on the road. Start out with a setting of 1 or 2 and increase from there if you feel it necessary.
thx. so i won't get the motivational mounts but i'm almost 100% sure i need new mounts anyway. So which ones should I get? OEM mounts or are they're some better and/or less expensive ones.
(I say I know i need new mounts because my mom replaced the rear shocks on the car no more than 20k miles ago without replacing the mounts and they're worn out already, guys at Belltire said that you're supposed to replace shock mounts when replacing shocks, thats why they went bad so quickly.) thanks

Your not going to need new rear mounts. Trust me, your wasting your money. There's nothing to them, just a big rubber ring glued onto a steel plate with two studs on it. They don't go bad. If anything, get the 2 small bushings from Nissan for about 6 bucks.

Bad install?
Cheap shocks?
Bad roads where you live?
Constantly lugging heavy stuff in your trunk?

There are quiet a few things that can make a shock fail early. If during the installation, the pistons were scratched, kiss them goodbye. The seal would fail quickly if that were the case. Also if the dust boots were never replaced, contanination may have caused early failure as well.
Get yourself a set of AGX's and the KYB Dust covers as well. I think SB108 is the P/N for the rear. Toss a set of Tokico's up front and your car will maintain a smooth ride and handle better then stock.

Tom, I just got the front Tokico Blues. Going to put them on this week. Hopefully, the ride will improve greatly over the current AGXs that I have up front. I can't wait.
hmm, the shocks were $50 a peice and buy one get one free at Murry's (i wasn't with my mom when she bought them, i was away at school
) so maybe thats why they went bad, they were just cheap. Okay, so when I'm taking apart my suspension, how would I be able to tell if the mounts did need replacement.
Also, I'm not sure what part of the suspension this is, but over bumps and in turns, i get a big popping/banging sound from the rear, i know its related to the shocks but don't know if its them or the mounts or whatever. thanks
