Service Engine Light Need Help?

THIS MORNING I DECIDED TO CHANGE MY FUEL FILTER OR AT LEASE I TRIED...ALL THAT I DID WAS DIRTY AND CUT MY HAND IN THE PROCESS. WHILE I WAS ACTING LIKE MR GOODWRENCH I NEEDED TO RELEASE A HOSE NEAR THE AIR INTAKE TO GET TO THE FUEL FILTER. ITS LOCATED PAST THE SENSOR(WHERE THERES 3 HOSES THAT CONNECT)SO I ACCIDENTLY STARTED THE CAR WITH OUT CHECKING THAT HOSE AND THERE WAS A WEIRD SOUND LIKE AIR SHHHHH... I IMMEDIATLY TURNED OFF THE CAR AND CONNECTED IT BUT NOW THERES THAT SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON...I NEED HELP?ANY AND ALL ADVICE IS WELCOMED. THANX

Check for leaks. And start the car again and look over everthing. see if the car runs fine. IF everything runs fine you need to Reset the ECU and you could do that by going to this link....
http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html

GO all the way down on this link it shows you how to reset the ECU after you done start the car again and drive it. and see if you get any more check engine light if you do you need to find out what code they are. get the codes, on the same site it will show you what they mean.

I changed my fuel filter last week, way easier than everybody says just take it out of the bracket. On the filter it said OUT on one of the sides. Should the side with OUT be pointing up or down???

Your local autozone can diagnose the problem for free and turn the "check engine light off" also for free. Same thing happened to me one time back when I had an altima. I used to think it would perform better if the engine does not regulate how much air it takes in so i disconnected some sensor on the intake. The check engine light came on and I started to freak out. The car wouldnt performe any better so i was ****sed I took it to autozone and they turned the light off.

I HOPE YOU DID IT CORRECT EVEN THOUGH I COULDNT GET THE SCREW OF THE TOP CLAMP OF THE FILTER. I DO KNOW THAT THE FUEL GOES UP INTO THE FILTER FROM THE BOTTOM SO OUT POINTS UP...

Yeah it's fine. The filter is held to the firewall with a black bracket that you just pull the filter out of. Then you can move the filter around so that the screws are right in front of you. Even though the 300zx filter is bigger it still fits in the bracket...
