Brake bleeder hose size
Brake bleeder hose size
I need to goto the store and pick up some length of hose to bleed the brakes. I assume that any rubber hose is ok for brake fluid, but what should the inner diameter be? Also, should the engine be running when I bleed the brakes?
I've done quite a lot of searching and the closest description I got was "clear tube used in aquariums". It's been a while since I've owned fish, so does anyone still know what size I.D. the clear tube should be? It's the tube that hooks to the bleeder screw on the caliper.
Another question: I've read that the brake pedal should be pressed 1 or 2 times and on last press, kept at the floor. THEN open the bleeder screw. How does on press the pedal down 3 times when the engine is off? The MasterCylinder builds up pressure and prevents the pedal from going down after one or two compressions on the pedal.
Oh yea, 1 more question. I read on the org that the brake pedal should never be fully pushed to the floor when bleeding the brakes and that a 2x4 block should be placed underneath it to prevent this from happening. Is this true, and if so, why?

I will see if I can find the size in my hanes while I am home for lunch...you can definitely pump it multiple times...it won't go to the floor till you open the bleeder...I haven't heard the don't let it go to the floor...
