Front Alignment problem?

I took my 1997 Maxima to a Nissan Dealer to get a front alignment. The mechanic says the alignment cannot be done because the car's suspension was lowered by the previous owner. (My car does sit low.) Is the mechanic speaking the truth? How do I get a new alignment? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

How bad is your aligment if is not too bad off do this is you want to save money put the stearing wheel strait look at the tires if it is off you will see it exsample if the right tire is out a little or in lift the front end the side the tire is off take I think is a 17mm or what ever it is loosen the nut on the stearing rack and turn it eather out if is out or in if is in but not too much tighten it and drive it see if takes the problem make sure you tighten the nut tight enough this is what they will do no special equipment need it except ofcourse they have the machine that tells them how much off it is....

good luck

Thanks for the help. I'll try that with the tires before I go to the shop.

Can you say Ghetto?

Your front toe should be 1mm in or .039 inches. I'd love to see somebody "see" that visually by looking at their front wheels.

Did they tell you that they can't get the car on the lift? IF that's the case, you have to start calling and find out if there is a place that can lift a lowered car. I had to call around when i had my 98 eclipse and i lowered it 2".
