I wish someone would develop a clear lense diffuser. The problem with the clear insert from Home Depot is that it doesn't spread out the light as well as the stock piece. During the daytime, you can barely see the blinker activated, yet at night it is just as bright (but more intense in the center). I'm going to ask a few guys around Huntington Beach that work with plastic, if they can make white inserts that diffuse the light like the amber pieces do. Then the mod would be safer to do and I can be happy.

I ran into some problems putting the clear inserts into the tail lights. While trying to put the clear inserts that I purchased into the lens, I cracked the left insert. So i ran to HomeDepot and bought a big sheet of clear stuff. Now I have NO idea how to cut it. I've tried exacto knives, razors, and even a soldering iron. None seem to work. I have a stencil of the un-cracked clear insert that i bought. What tool does everyone here use to cut the plastic? I have access to a jig-saw, circular saw, drill, and router.

some here use a dremel. Sprintmax.com says to use a rotary tool with a blade, or a soldering iron
"I got some very sharp kitchen scissors out, and for the most part they cut pretty well. I think a very sharp pair of pipe scissors may work even better." http://www.brianv.net/mods/taillights/

I'm going to try and find a cheap dremel for around $15 or $20 because I'm not having any luck with super sharp scissors or knives.
Dafro, if it isn't a huge pain for you, I'd appreciated it if you sent me another piece for the outer drivers side light in case I keep screwing up with this sheet of plastic I just bought.
When I insert the clear piece, should it fit within the outer raised edges of the tail light lens, or should it sit on top of them? That probably sounds confusing...If you look at the lower, clear part of the tail light lens, around the border of it there is a raised portion. If the clear insert is cut as large as possible, it will sit ontop of the raised area and not be touching the actual plastic lens. If it is about 2mm smaller on all sides, it will sit within this area and therefore be in full contact with the lower clear plastic portion.
