I want to lower my car but I wanted to just go with the Eibachs right now and but the shocks/struts on later but, I wasnt sure if you can leave the stock ones on when doing this or if it will be harmful in any way. If I did leave the stock ones on, it wouldnt be for too long either. Also what combination is best with eibachs so that its not such a rough ride?

Let me tell you my story....Hindsight being 20/20 vision...
I put on the Eibach ProKit on my '98 Max SE last Sept. and kept on the stock shocks. After nearly a month it felt really spooky as I drove around. I felt uneasy as it jiggled and rebounded like crazy going over bumps. For others here it has lasted longer for them. IMO for the cost of workmanship you'll save money doing it all at once, unless you are able to do it yourself.

Yup...just do it all at once. It is more cost effective in the long run when you factor in labor and safer -- you do not want to have to be going down the highway at 75 mph on a wind day with blown struts/shocks -- trust me...

I just bought some rims and have just about enough money to get the springs but if its going to be bad then I'd rather wait. What kind of shocks do you have on? Were did you get the whole setup?

yo

4 months i had my ground control coilovers and had car slammed 3in all 4 months after like 10 day of putting in springs car was bouncing like crazy. then after 4 months of bouncy maxima i saved money and bought tokico shocks and stillen adj camber plates car rides smooth and no tire ware. if u do any kind of spring i suggest u buy some new struts, stock cant handle it.

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to wait and do it all together and now I just need to figure out where to get my springs and shocks and should I try to do it myself. Anyone know of a good place to get a whole lowering kit for a good price?

The only lowering springs that's proven to work with stock shocks are the H&R's. My brother's 97SE's running with that set-up for over 50K miles. I just got mine set up about a month and so far so good. The Eclipse I had a while back had that set up as well.

Hey Nixima where did you get your H&R's and how does the ride feel? Did you put them on yourself or have someone do it?If you did have someone do it, how much did it cost?

Max99, I installed the springs myself. Took me about 5 hours, mainly due to lousy spring compressors. I spent a big chunk of the 5 hours compressing and decompressing the stock springs. The ride quality does not differ much from stock on decent road surface. It only shows when road is rough or at turns, which is what they are intended for. It lowers the car about 1.5", just right for my taste. Got them from Tirerack.com for $224 shipped, but I hear you can get them cheaper ($214 the lowest I heard).

I don't have a budget for new shocks, unless they get busted soon. To change the shocks will be like a walk in the park. With the lowering spring I wouldn't need to compress the springs at all. I would only need to compress them with my bodyweight.

Buss95max, which model do you have? GLE, SE, or GXE? I am not sure if it makes any difference but SE are suppposed to come with stiffer shocks. My brother and I both have SE and using H&R with stock shocks. No problem whatsoever.

Hey cliffp

I'd love your help when I get my springs. Do you know how to put the shocks/struts on too? I'll email you and we can talk about getting together for this.
