AutoZone/AdvanceAuto rotors ok to buy?

My front rotors have heat stress marks all over them, while the rear rotors look fine and do not have these lines (picture of what they sort of look like at bottom of this page: http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/302 ) and I don't want to risk putting them back on. Right now the drivers side brake caliper is fully disassembled and cleaned, and the rotor is off. I need new shims, so im just going to buy PFC Carbon metallic pads that come with shims. i also want to buy rotors, but i dont know if i should buy the ones at these stores. The two brands are Aimco and Wearever. Both only cost around $28 per rotor and come with 3month and 1 yr warranties respectively.

What should i do about the rotors? are these things pieces of junk or are they decent? I don't need crazy stopping power. just something that is similar to O.E.

Thanks

i bought the ones from autozone for my fronts and have had no problems so far. i've even had them turned once already, and they're still stopping good

Yup, I have the "cheapo" rotors on all 4 corners of my Max and don't have any problems at all. In fact, they're so cheap that I just replace them when the pads need changing...it's $15 in my area just to have the rotors resurfaced so why not?! They do rust up a bit more around the hub area than expensive rotors but that doesn't affect performance.

last month, i changed my rear rotors with aimco along with the lifetime pads. no complaints so far but the rotors are made in CHINA. Personally I would go for the expensive one for the front b/c the front brakes are used more than the rear brakes when stopping.

I work at Advance Auto Parts down here in Miami, and we don't sell Aimco. We sell Wearever and Bendix. BIG TIP FROM AN AAP EMPLOYEE: if u r picky about rust, don't buy Wearever, cus they perform good, but they rust like crazy at the hub and on the vents bet'n the rotor's surfaces. Bendix goes for about 2x the price, but if rust is an issue to u, they'll b worth it, they don't have rusting problems. Braking ability bet'n the 2 is about the same, it's the quality that sets the difference. Hope it help.
