99.5 maxima (The sequel)

Three more questions about the 99.5 Max-

Anyone try replacing the knock sensor? If so, how do you remove the swish valve in place for emissions purposes?
Would anyone know if the knock sensor is the same for the 99.5 max as it is for the others? If not, I now have a brand new knock sensor for sale- not even out of the box it shipped in! (another post, another time)... (

Question 3- or 4, I forget...
anyone know if replacing a 99.5 ecu with a 99 ecu will cause unheralded problems? Or if the emissions equipment on CA spec Maximas detracts greatly from engine power (the y-pipe for the 99.5 max doesn't have all the pre-cats removed, so I assume the power gain with an aftermarket y isn't as great as fed-spec)

o.k..... bad analogy.....Having a CA spec car is like having a "special needs" child... First you don't wanna believe it.. then you want to love it all the same... then you wanna find out ways to gut it to get MORE POWER- o.k.... bad analogy....

I needed to switch the ecu in my 99 se. I had to do TONS of research, and found out quite a bit of info on the brains. PM me with more specifics, and I should be able to help out.

You can't put a 99 ECU in a 99.5

I don't like green eggs and ham

Remove the swish valve hardware to get access to the KS.
