Adjusting camber - Camber Questions..

I'm lowered with Sprints and I have 18" rims on and i've recently found out that the inside of my tires are alot more bald than the rest of the tires. This leads me to believe my camber is off? It is only on the front tires.. the back are fine. And since its sprints the back is higher anyway which would make sense all together. So if that does sound like a camber problem.. what should I do about it? Can it be adjusted anyway yourself..( I thought I remember reading that you could, from njmaxstld or someone ) or should I get a camber kit.. and if so what kind, etc.. Thanks..

Yes it is probably a camber problem, and can be adjusted by buying a camber kit and taking your car in for an alignment.

Camber kits are here:

Just FYI:
No matter how much you lower the back of the car, the camber on the rear wheels doesn't change.

If you only need a few degrees of adjustment, save some money and get camber bolts. Then all you need to do is get an alignment done.

i heard that u can change up to about a degree of camebr without a kit. remove front wheels unbolt the 2 strut bolts. hold the whole strut assemble and pulltowarsd you(away from the engline block) and hard as possible whiole someone rebolts the strut bolts..

this is just what i read..dunno if its true or if it works. but if your on budget its worth a shot. u may wanna get an allignment too. toe is what really kills your tires.. not camber. ask for a 4 wheel thrust line.. rear toe is not adjustable.

Has anyone else had to do this? I know alot of people have Sprints..

Will my mechanic know how to install the bolts? I think I will buy the ones from tirerack.com. And is just one bolt needed fo each side? (they show two in the picture but im not sure if thats just for one side or not)

Max Noob's right. There's at least a half degree of play with stock bolts so try that. Just a pain taking everything off, adjusting, putting back on, and re-measuring it. Same pain of crash/eccentric bolts.

Oh, and camber CAN kill your tires too. I scrubbed off over 6/32 of tread in 2200miles of street driving. But that's with -2.7deg.

Alignment check Alignment is critical to me. I visit my local JustTires who have a 10K Hunter laser setup at least once a year.

Most shops will check yours for free. Because you didn't mention outside edge wear it's probably not a toe problem. When you look at the car from the front do the wheels look slightly like this /---\ ? That's negative camber and causes inside wear. Stock range is -1.5 to +.5.

How many miles on those tires since you dropped the car?

Yes they do sort of look like that.. And yes the inside is the part that is worn.. I think I have put about 10k on them? I dont know for sure.

That's definately enough milage to cause the wear. Take it in to an alignment shop for a free check. I'm guessing your's somewhere between -1.5 to -2.0. Once you know for sure then you can decide on OEM bolts, 3rd party bolts, plates, etc. Oh, and when you fix it redo the toe measurement too.

Yeah toe does wear the tires. Killed a set of mine. Once i got my alignment redone it was night and day and the tire wear is much better now. I am gonna get camber plates now though so i will be adjusting it all the time!

Don't forget to check toe-in. Too much toe-in wears the outside of the tires, not enough wears the inside. This will kill a set of tires MUCH faster than a camber problem.

Good Luck!
