i just got my 97 gxe monday and the seller said it had premium sound. does anyone kno if the gxe can get premium sound and how i can find out if it is bose or not? they also put an aftermarket CD player in (unless the maxima comes with a detachable face) so maybe it's their own "premium sound". any ideas?

a Bose sound system...

Usually the stock Bose Sound System comes with 6 Speakers. A GXE to my knowledge usually only has 4, 2 on each of the front doors and two in the back. Also, a Bose Sound System would also come with a Bose Deck (CD, cassette player). I have a GXE, and automatically I could tell it wasn't Bose, heh.

Premium sound is something American car companies use to describe a more expensive system. Nissan however doesn't refer to their systems this way. With your GXE, a CD player was optional (second DIN unit installed below the AM/FM Tape). The BOSE system was optional on the SE and standard on the GLE, not available on the GXE. So as far as your question being answered, the dealer feed you some B.S.
