Hard Shifting

I have Two maxima's a 1996 and a 1999. The 96 (Auto) seems to shift much harder than the 99 almost with a thunk. Has anyone had this problem is it my Tranny, CV's or is this inherent with the 96? I just bought it.

My wife has a '96 SE and I have a '96 GXE with VB mod and hers shifts just about as hard as mine. Not quite as hard (especially at full throttle). I've always noticed her car shifts quick when driving around town.

That could be it. Mine does seem a lot quicker than hers. I will probably still have it checked out at the transmission shop. Thanks.

Re: Hard Shifting

My '96 automatic shifts hard when it's cold, then smooths out when it's fully warmed up. I've been told that's normal.

I took it to AAMCO and they looked at it and found nothing wrong. They said it justed needed a trans flush. I had that done and fixed the problem. I never would have thought.
