1st, you need to break the clutch in properly for 500 miles. Many people with the ACT (myself included) have had issues, do to the increased grip of the ACT, causing some clutch chatter until the clutch is broken in. Some people have had it, some have not. Your pressure plate or flywheel may not have been cleaned well enough before they were installed, or the resurfacing of the flywheel could have been a little uneven as well. Even if your motor mounts still look good, you may want to think about upgrading them, as they are a little hard pressed to deal with the extra grip from the clutch and keeping the vibrations down. Think about poly filling them, this has also helped quite a few members. Good luck.

When I did the tranny conversion I also installed an ACT clutch and it chattered quite a bit. The chatter reduced significantly when I got filled motor mounts. The front motor mount for a car with an auto tranny is very soft to isolate the engine during idling. The mount switches to a harder setting once the car starts moving (not sure how that works, but if you look at your front mount you will see some electrical wires going into it). Once you change transmissions the mount is always in the soft setting, and it will aggravate clutch chatter with the ACT clutch. You can probably reduce the chatter with OEM motor mounts for a manual car, although the filled mounts are probably better.

does the shifter (stick) vibrate/shake/chatter when this happens?

from my (limited) experience with manual transmissions, it sounds like it's trying to pop out of gear. Try pushing the stick into the gear as far as possible while engaging the clutch, i.e. If you're in 2nd, hold the stick down as far as it will go while letting off the clutch pedal. Also, does it "chatter" while going into reverse? And does it chatter every time you're in first or second, or only occasionally?

Then again, it could be the ACT clutch. Being an auto owner, i know very little about the aftermarket clutches, but from what i've heard, the ACT clutches are really only useful for boosted applications, and are more trouble than they're worth.
