Needle on EGT gauge spinning wildly at times

The needle on my Autometer EGT gauge has started to spinning wildly at times when I'm at idle. When I apply the throttle the needle goes back to the correct temp again and acts normal. Is this because of a loose connection or is the gauge at fault?

Sounds like a loose connection or ground Dan.

Thanks Mtrai! I'll take a look at it this weekend.

If water gets on the connections (like right after a car wash) it can do that too. I've had that happen.

When I wired mine, it did it too, and often at random times. I found a hotter power wire and a better ground, and have not had issues since. I think it just needs a better connection that my other four gauges.
