Wheel Balancing

i got my dunlop 5000's on a few weeks ago, and i've noticed a really bad vibration at highway speeds. they were supposedly balanced, but when i get time i'm going to go back to get it done again... possibly on a highspeed balancer. but my question is... is there something else that would cause vibration... and its not just the steering wheel... the whole car shakes 75mph+. and i do mostly highway driving... so its getting really annoying. but everything else seems fine... the alignment is good... i've had the car on a lift and made sure everything is tightend down. any help would be appreciated.

If everything is indeed balanced correctly, it may be a defect in the tire that's causing the vibration. Though from my experience with getting new tires over the past few years, it seems like only a small percentage of people can actually balance a correctly.

After I got my rims and tires, I noticed the same thing. Over 65 for me and the car shakes horribly. I have had the tires balanced by 2 different garages and the same thing. For now I am just dealing with it.

Do you think it could be some worn control arm bushings like on my car?

i have the same problem...once i got new rims/tires installed on my car, they've been vibrating over 70 mph. been giong on for a few years now. ever since, i've gotten a new set of tires, and then finally got new rims hoping it would solve the problem but nope. what a waste of f***** money. anyway, the new rims are nicer! but when i posted about this a while ago, someone suggested that the rotors had warped when the stock rims/wheels were removed and that they should be resurfaced. someone else also suggested to raise the front of the car up, and have someone hit the gas while inspecting the tires for bouncing/etc. to see if the axle is bent. will try this when i get back to my car two months from now and will hopefully fix the damn problem.

what about other shaking? I have had a shake at highway speeds since ive had the car, and balancing doesnt seem to work. Ive heard its just something you have to put up with when you lower a car, but It would be nice to know for sure, and what about a damn pull! i pull to th right, and yes, its been aligned, and no, there is no way that its just torque steer. I need answers, im sick of putting up with this

had same problem here...when i received my rims/tires it was vibrating after 60mph. so i took it to sears and it came with lifetime balancing so i got it done about 5 times in a month. but still same problem. finally called manufature and asked them what was wrong and they told me to get hub centric rings. so i shopped around for it and some place were asking $40 for a set and went to discount tire store and they had it in stock. and they were only $10 for a set. so i took it back to sears for a final balancing and while they were working on it i had them put that ring on and rotate tires(free). and problem is gone. so if you have new tires/rims then i suggest you get them. it's worth it.

i have hubcentrics and still have vibrations. i even had the rims/tires on the car BEFORE lowering it, was vibrating. AFTER lowering, still vibrating. and no, i'm not talking about when I hit the brakes it vibrates, i mean when I am driving on the highway above 70 the entire car shakes (the wheel shakes like crazy...side-to-side). Its SOOOO annoying.

yeah, I got the unlimited allignment and balance package a long time ago, and had it alligned a few times already, balanced a million times. still no resolution.

its odd becuase i can be driving above 70 and it will vibrate pretty badly (whole car and steering wheel), and then after like 10 secdonds, it can go away, and then cycle back and fourth. i also notice its worse when i'm going around curves on the highway.

I would recommend finding a shop that has "Roadforce" balancing that system will measure the amount of road force ie how much pressure the tire puts on the road in a small area .... you can balance a tire to 0.00 and have 30lbs of road force causing a vibration...anything over 15lbs is unacceptable....later
