CV Joints ** HELP!!

Alright guys, I need to get these fixed because from the advice I've been given, my joints are almost at the end . Anyway, where can I go to buy the whole CV joint setup? Online some place, or would I have to go through the stealership? Are there any aftermarket higher performance CV joints out there?

Also, do you guys recommend doing it myself or is it hard to do and you just recommend taking it to a shop?

Thanks for the help guys.

How bad were your joints? Were they leaking and grease kept getting on your wheels? That's how bad mine are.

Also, did you notice a difference when you got them fixed? What was different?

Buy the entire axle. It is MUCH more efficient that just replacing the CV joints, unless you are very tight on money and doing them yourself. www.Raxles.com, talk to Marty and tell him Cyrus sent ya. They are the only place to use brand new CV joints (everyone else uses rebuilds) and then run about $130/axle. Excellent quality and fast shipping.

My Story:

Well like many people around here. I have been working my fingers to the bone for the past few weeks getting up some much needed mod money. Having everything set, IM off working and planning. Take the car into the Stealership to have oil/filter change. The head dude tells me after inspection my cv boots are crack and leaking. So I look over the sheet and see that its going to be 288 dollars to replace the boots.

So not knowing what the heck a cv boot was. I ran a search and asked questions around the org. the info you get is worth any small donations ya know . anyways i come to the conclusion that for a little more money i can replace my axles.

as for as my symptoms, no clicking noise, no grease or oily stuff on my rims no sounds no nothing. hmmm i thought ! well, the max was up on a rack the other day having some exhaust work done and so i checked out the outer cv boots and sure enough.. you could see the greasey looking stuff in the middle. so there i am trying to figure out. do i buy replacement boots ? or go ahead and replace all the parts?

After much advise, I went with replacing both the drivers side and passengers side axel. it cost me 305 dollars (this figure does not include labor)

So im getting all new everything including the boots and im going to feel much better knowing i have got the new parts. also in my case, i dont plan to sell the car.. so sooner or later I would have had to do it.

Just look over your situation, check out your funds, and make a good move.

I highly reccomend www.raxles.com

I just placed my order this morning. Talked with a guy named Marty there through email a few times. And then just called him up. Got my tracking number tonight. ! now thats service and what about this: LIFETIME WARRANTY

Something worth considering. I am by no means a mechanic and I know very little about cars. But this is what I did. Also the labor I was quoted for the install was 165 dollars.

Good Luck and tell him Cyrus sent ya, Cyrus sent me too !
Thanks Cyrus !

well, my drivers side on my car was actually making clicking noises. so i went ahead and had both sides rebuilt. after getting my ride back i was still getting noise. after about a month it turned into a low grinding sound from my passenger side wheelwell. i drove it for roughly another month or so and the grinding noise had noticable increased. i pulled my passenger tire and right away knew my wheel bearing was toast. it came apart in my hands after removing the hub. to make matters worse, because i had been driving on it, it had stripped my threads on my cv shaft. i ended up replacing entire driveshaft and hub and wheel bearing.

If I replace both axles, how much of a difference will I notice in the handling and overall driveability? Because now, my car shakes kinda bad when i get above 55mph and it gets worse the faster I go..do you think replacing the axles will fix this?
