well after spending $70.00 to diagnose a check engine light problem it appears that my rear o2 sensor has gone bad. The shop wants $250.00 to put in a new one but I was wondering how hard it would be to put one in myself. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I had also been experiencing the difficult starts in cold weather that some others have mentioned. The car would start then die or have a really rough idle for the first minute in really cold weather. I had the charging system checked and the only problem was the battery. Seems pretty basic but I guess most answers are.

thanks

In the repair manual{Either Chilton/Haynes} it will teach you how to do your own diagnostic's which is incredibly easy to do. As for replacing your rear o2 sensor,if you know how to unscrew a bolt then you can do it,just remember righty tighty lefty lousy.BTW check the links on this site and you will find Courtasy Nissan's site and you can get a rear o2 sensor for about a $100{just mention you are a maxima.org member and they will give you %25 off}. Just remember that everything you have a dealer do they will rip you off real bad so just learn to do the stuff yourself and you will save Mucho Dinero. Have fun!

hmmm....righty tighty huh? no wonder i've been having so much trouble with peanut butter jars.... Thanks for the advise.

The shop told me that they needed to test the o2 sensor, install it, re-test, then reset the ecu. I guess the next thing on the list was to bend me over and have the entire service staff rape me.

I guess if it isn't much harder than screwing in a bolt I'll do it myself.

Thanks again
