i got a real problem - shifter keeps jaming

hey all, sorry for the long post, but for some reason when i put my autotragicly challenged car in park, the shifter won't move even if i depress the brake i think it's the selenoid that locks and unlocks it when the brakes are pressed and depressed. i have this problem of having drinks spill in my car, and when they do, they fall forward and spill on my shift gate. my thoughts are that the repeated douses have just made it give up. i can take it out of park if i move the cam with a long flathead screw driver, but i don't feel like doing that every time i need to move my car. also, my car is a 95 gxe, and right above park it says shift lock, but there isn't anything there to unlock, no keyhole or anything close. if there is something i'm missing please tell me. oh i checked the manual, and the only thing it said was to make sure your brake lights work and mine do, but nothing on how to fix it.

Take out the bottom trim panel pull it out towards you, you're going to pull at the end of the panel towards where "1" is for your shifter, once its out clean out all the crap inside the bottom of the shifter.

been there, done that. no offense, but that was the first thing i did because that was common sense. weird thing is i just ran to the store, and it worked fine i'm still concerned that the selenoid may be going bad. anymore input would be great.
