Spark Plug Question

Is it possible that if only one of your spark plugs is not perfectly gapped like the other original five it can cause your car to tremble at idle? I have 5 original factory plugs and one brand new one that was damaged while reinstalling after a compression test and was regapped by eye. Also, the pin seemed to be a little deformed (BARELY) from the damage but we thought it would be okay. Maxeffect said that it is not the culprit of the trembling and that my car is fine, basically its the nature of a car with 40k on it. His car has absolutely no shake at idle when i feel his steering wheel, my car has a pulsating tremble. I guess you can say that I am really ****, because I think that it might be that spark plug that although looks to be usable, is making my car tremble. So, can one minor spark plug abnormality cause this? I was thinking of putting a new one in, or buying a gapping tool to double check. These plugs are expensive so we did not want to get rid of this one that we damaged by accident. The car still drives like an animal- just the idle is kinda funky- The idle si rock steady, but the car trembles. Maxeffect has been awesome helping me out and I don't want to keep bothering him with my **** questions. Also- what should these platinum plugs be gapped to?

I know they are supposed to be pre-gapped. But, if you compare 6 of them, none of them will be the same, and I doubt any of them will be correct.

It's best to gap them properly before installation.

What if the little electrode in the center is a little marred- Can that cause the car to tremble? B/C for the life of me i don't remeber my car shaking so hard.

shaking might be cause by the plug ifself not installed properly.. or hte coil pack not connected.. a small difference in gap doesn't "usually" cause that much vibration..

in your best interest.. pull all plugs out, inspect and re-install

When the car is at a red light in D with the brake, it is usually at 500 or a smigin above the five hundred line, in park or nuetral, the needle is a little below the halfway mark between 1000 and 500, I would say about 700 maybe.

It should idle in D arond 600 - 650. Bump that up slightly and your vibration will go away. Try cleaning your TB or if you did that already, just bump the idle up slightly.

Thanks njmax
Now, maxeffect said that the idle is controlled by a computer and my idle is where it should be. At the time, we also adjusted the throttle cable, but we made it too tight and it was idling at around 1000, so we loosened it a little, but still left it tighter than whe we had started with. Is this the way to control the idle? With the cable? I remember reading about an idle screw, but I don't know where it is- could somebody post a pic so I can find it? Should I put the car in drive, put the ebrake on and adjust it till it reaches 650? I don't wanna run myself over LOL.
