knock sensor

I have been getting a knock sensor and A/T control sensor malfunction with the check engine codes on my 96'. I checked the knock sensor with an ohmmeter and it reads about 550k. I cleaned the contacts and put it back together. Got the indication again after a few days.
I do not know where the A/T control sensor is located.
After I had worked on the knock sensor and reset the codes I tried to get the car inspected. It failed. The failure report indicated catalytic converter not ready and EGR not ready. Where in the world did all of that come from???
Please help

my guess is that your OXYGEN SENSORS could be malfunctioning...
potentially, the KS code could be a ghost code, but, if it keeps
reappearing, could be legit.

also, what is the "A/T control sensor"???

sorry if I wasn't very helpful...
