Don't be scared- everybody pops their cherry-- I mean, rotor once... I was somewhat apprehensive, but since you have a Maxima (all disc brakes) It's very intuitive... make sure that if you're just replacing rotors and pads that NO brake fluid leaks for ANY reason.. This indicates a problem with your lines or that you have inadvertently disconnected something. If you forget to install something INSTALL IT- it's there for a reason. Note well how your brakes are on the car before uninstallation. You'll need a wrench that can apply a great deal of torque (i.e. a ratchet with a VERY long handle) and plenty of sockets for your ratchet (14mm, 10mm as I recall) The C-clamp is a near must unless you have vise grips and a strong person to help you out. It is a one man job that I accomplished my first time out in about 3 hours (front pad replacement only--I had fun doing it, too...) Good luck, and e-mail me with any questions...

you dont need a C clamp... the only thing u need is the tool to rotate the piston on the rear calipers when you are pushing it back in. you can also use pliers but i think its harder that way..

I just installed Raybestos QS pads today. Front took 1.5 hours this morning, and rear brakes about 2.5 this afternoon.
It was my first time too, and things went fine.
Observations:
1. My C-Clamp was too small. Get a big one as it has to stretch a fair way.
2. Unhooking the parking cable clip was a b*tch! Mine was seized and required liquid wrench and some swearing to get off.
3. If you can't get needle-nose to work on the rear calipers, then a medium pair of vise grips around the outside of the piston and turn it that way.
There's a common fear (not much on this board thankfully) that working on your brakes could be dangerous. The job really is pretty easy though. Take a bit of time to ensure everything's right at each step and you can't go wrong.
