throttle body cleaning question

I have done it before, not hard at all, my question is this..

Is it healthy or un-healthy for the car to have its throttle body cleaned every 7,500-10,000 miles? Because I looked and I last cleaned it 7,500 miles ago, and there some gunk back. not bad, but it erks me. lol

thanks.

A clean intake contributes to a happy engine, no matter how often it needs it.

if i clean the intake/throttle body at the same time.. will i notice a difference.. i think i'm gonna used the K&N intake cleaner to clean intake.. and then clean the throttle body after that..

I wouldn't do it unless it was dirty enough. What's enough? When it starts to affect performance and mileage. Why? Because the solvents in the cleaners damage the gaskets and seals. In fact, with a proper cleaning, you will even loosen enough deposits that when they hit the combustion chamber with the solvents, the deposits, in chunks will go through the entire system, and the solvents will wash away the oil film, and even get into your engine oil.

Thus, don't do it too often. Keep your car running as clean as possible so you don't have to do this slightly damaging cleaning all the time. And most importantly, after a good intake and combustion cleaning, change your engine oil.

If well maintained, and not under severe conditions, once every other year is more than enough. If under severe conditions (short drives, especially in cold weather, dirty gas, bad plugs, bad pcv, cheap engine oil, connected crankcase ventilation, etc) once a year is plenty.
