GXE Speed Limiter

I was thinking, to get rid of the speed limiter on GXE's, couldn't you just switch the ECU to the same year ECU but get one from an SE or GLE? Or is there more involved?

Check in the FAQ's or search for it. If I remember correctly you just have to cut one wire.

Why not...intead of having an CEL on all the time or having to worry about a switch, why couldnt you just switch ECU's? Why do people ask so many questions, I was just curious...would like to know if it would work.

Oh, ok. I was just curious myself as to why you would want to do that. I don't know what is involved in switching ECU's. If it is just unplug one and plug the other one in, then I guess it would be easier than a switch. Good luck.

and people ask questions to gain knowledge, I only asked cause I didn't know.

by the way, i was just wondering what the speed limiters were set at (in mph) cause i saw a pretty well modded 97-99 gxe on the freeway once and I had my 96 SE 5 spd with only intake at the time and we both went for it at the same time. We were neck and neck. I kept at it and it was as if they hit their speed limiter around 100-105. When that happened I seemed to just blow past them because I didn't have the limiter. The look on their faces!

117MPH wasnt it? yeap, to fix it up just cut that one wire and put a switch on it so you dont get that crappy CEL, if your car has the comfort and convenience package then you dont have a limiter

Mine neither - as I found out in my failed attempt to keep a G35 in sight one morning. 137..138..139... Infiniti taillights getting smaller & smaller...
