Floating feeling - need bushings?

I recently upgraded from the existing 205 15/65 S tires that were on my Maxima GXE to a lower profile 215 15/60 H tire - the Dunlop A2s. I also have a front tower strut bar and a rear anti sway bar.

However, at the same time, I had the rear struts replaced at Midas, just a basic replacement Gabriel strut--nothing fancy.

Now the car seems a little overwhelmed by the added grip of the tires. It corners fine at normal speeds, but if I push it hard at an exit ramp, the body seems to sway over the tires--I doesn't lean much, the antisway bar keeps the car relatively flat. It's more like an unsettingly side motion, as gravity pulls the back end out a bit.

The tires remain planted. however.

Question - would adding better bushings help? Or is this a matter of needing everything--struts all around, springs, etc? Anybody experienced this? Would I be better off returning the tires ASAP for the stock 65 series tires (still in H)?

Thanks,

Bill

Have your front strut replaced so the car is balanced a little better. You might as well throw the Gabriels up front to match the rears.

I thought all Maximas float on (relatively) stock suspension? The difference between my car on stock springs and Eibachs were night and day.

Correct - The Maxima has pretty soft struts from the factory, especially in the rear. SE's are a little better do to a firmer rear spring.

The struts are what cause the floaty ride. Springs play a role too, but not as much as a set of performance struts do.
