Painting '96 Max. Can side mirrors covers be removed?

I would prefer to remove these mirror covers and have them painted rather than tape them up. Do they just pop off or do I need to remove the whole dang mirror?

Thanks

I know first hand that the Altima mirror covers come off. Aparently the Altima's covers and some car washes don't get along. (at least thats what the customers tell us) We've had a few come into the body shop for new covers in the past few months.

Yes they do come off. I have Cefiro mirror covers on my car, all I had to do was pop out the glass and then I think there are like 4 screws behind the glass just take those out and simply remove your mirror covers. Don't worry you arer not going to break the glass it really just pops out.

You probably need to remove the whole mirror. That's why the new LED blinker mirror covers you can buy from CustomMaxima and RedlineMax attach to the existing cover, for minimal installation work.

Why don't you just tape up the non-painted parts and include them in the repainting?
