SMOG CHECK: OBD-II and EGR problems..
SMOG CHECK: OBD-II and EGR problems..
Freakin searh failure has casued me to not be able to research this...
So for the time being here goes... I went for a smog check at a trusted shop, mostly everything passed except for a few things.
First it seemed the car had a plethora of electrical problems (well just a few..) they fixed those and then discovered the EGR valve failure.. they cleaned the lines so that was fixed. Now, I haven't talked with the mechanic yet in detail.. just over the phone because i'm going to meet up with him tomorrow. He mentioned something about an OBD-II sensor failure or some junk like that and that he thought they could fix it, but it might be something I'd have to take up with a Nissan dealer.
I trust the guy because we've been taking our cars to him for over a decade, but maybe he's not knowledgable on this specific thing or something. I just want to gather up some info so I'll be educated about this thing when I talk to him tomorrow.
Any input on this problem? The only problem left is the OBD-II sensor/system problem.
Thanks,
Mario

anyone? The reason I'm confused is because they keep calling it a senser but there's no such thing as an OBD-II sensor right? It's a diagnostic system? So if this is failing, then is it an ECU problem.
Something that might help, I have a GXE and have never touched the ECU.. but I've gone up to 128mph so somehow the limiter isn't working. Could an electrical problem have made that malfunction, or are there some GXE's that don't have limiters. Maybe my car has a GLE ECU
It should be interesting what happens with this.

UPDATE: So after a confusing encounter with the mechanic, it turned up that all the electrical junk was fixed, but they didn't fix the EGR problem (for them it was P0400). I pulled the codes myself once back at home and cleaned my throttle body hoping it would fix the EGR (as many people have posted about doing this and it worked).
