Apples to Oranges? 300ZX to Maxima?
Apples to Oranges? 300ZX to Maxima?
I just bought (today) a 1993 300ZX with only 39,000 miles on it for $10,000
One of those little ladies who keeps it garaged and drives it to the store and back for the past 10 years kind of situation. It was a sick deal and I couldn't pass it up. Problem is now, I can't afford both cars so I'm selling the maxima (check the for sale forum if you're interested in a 97 SE).
Anyway...
I've been wondering how the Z compares to the maxima when it comes to reliability. I know it uses the VG30DE and not the VQ30DE and they're very different cars, but both made by Nissan. If you have experience with both cars, could you point out some things that may differ between the two when it comes to reliability?

i remember the turbo having the most problems as far as maintenance. Not sure how N/A is. I only know one guy that had both and he didnt have the 300zx long enough to give u feedback on reliability...i recommend checking 300zx forums
It's a 5speed NA. I didn't want to deal with the possibility of the extra headaches caused by a more complicated turbo car. I figured the performance would be on par with the maxima, but slower huh? Maybe I'll try and fix that, but speed really wasn't one of my top reasons for buying it. Thanks everyone!
I had a 300zx, it was awesome but was slower than a maxima. The 300zx was a great chick magnet but the maxima is the best runner for a race. The 300zx would break down after hard use but not the maxima. I would take the maxima because of the luxury and the less expense. The 300zx has a gas expense up the hole. It may look good but the maxima is what you should keep because the maxima is faster than the N/A 300zx and with the N/A 300zx is like having a piece of shyt that's wrapped in christmas wrapping. Stick to the MAX. Trust me, I know from Experience.
