Question about blown gasket: Would this affect performance?

Question about blown gasket: Would this affect performance?

Im really not sure if this would have any affect on performance. I was testing my maxima out the other day and I had noticed that the exhaust sounded like a dump truck. I thought man what have I done?

Anyways, I continued to do some test runs and ended up going to my exhaust shop the next day.

He says man, your car sounds terrible ! We put it up and the car is leaking air between test pipe and b pipe.

Take things apart and the gasket looked like it was in an oven much to long. All blown up, and burnt !

Replaced it, tighten everything up and everythings back to normal, no more dump truck like sound and the car feels good !

Would something like that decrease your performance (acceleration and speed in the 1/4 mile) Or is something like that not really important enough to take a toll on times ?

thanks in advance

What you mean is bump

Yes exhaust leaks are bad for performance. However, you'd notice a lot more loss from a boosted car than NA.

Faulty exhaust will cause a loss of power. Have you ever driven a car where the catback has rusted out and dropped? All you get is a lot of noise and the car doesn't go anywhere.
