Synthetic oil can last up to 6k miles but what about filter?

i have synthetic oil in my car for the first time and my car has 138,000 miles. Believe it or not, no oil leaks or anything.

My main concern now is i changed to synthetic partially because its better for car but mostly because it would be cheaper in the long run since it lasts twice as long and not twice the price. Anyway, what about the oil filter?

Can it last the 6k miles?
Do u have to change it at 3k and if so how if the oil is still inside car?
Is there some heavy duty oil filter we can get that will last 6k?

all input is recommended including how long u guys keep synthetic oil in your car...

Change filter still at 3000miles.
If you are looking for cost effective, use non-synthetic, and change it yourself at 3000miles..

You can drop the filter without having to drain all 4 or so quarts of oil from your system. I would pour some fresh synthetic oil into the new filter to saturate the element inside of it before putting srewing it onto the engine. I've been using synthetic oil for a while, I've never heard of replacing the element in between the oil change intervals. I keep my oil in for 4k to 6K miles before changing it depending on how I've been driving; if it has been mostly highway mileage vs. mostly city miles and my opportunity to do it. I have a 96 with 120K miles and I haven't noticed any problems.

P.S. I use Mobil1 and Fram DoubleGuard oil filters

I use AMSOIL 0W-30 Synthetic Oil. I change oil once a year (10 k miles per year) and my oil filter every 6 months. I use Baldwin oil filters and change every 6 months. Baldwin makes AMSOIL Oil Filters. With the engine off you can change the oil filter and only lose the small amount of oil in the filter and none from the crank case. I am using AMSOIL 0W-30 on 5 cars the last couple of years. I am running AMSOIL Synthetic ATF in 97 SE and I30 including power steering fluid. I currently use AMSOIL 0W-40 synthetic oil in my John Deere mower and McClane Edger. Never had any leaks or oil usage problems with AMSOIL. Also using AMSOIL 2 Stage Air Filters on 97 SE and I30 and on 98 Honda Civic EX Coupe.
