plastigage

Does anyone have any experience with plastigage? I am doing my differential bearing this weekend, and when I asked to borrow a good measuring tool from my dad, he told me to go get some plastigage. I did a few searches, and this stuff seems pretty kick-***.

The question of the day, though: Does it work well enough to measure the end-play?

I used it to check my main/rod bearing clearances. I'm not too sure how to check for endplay with it. Not sure how well you could squeeze the wax. A good set of feeler guages might be a better choice.

Be very sure all the parts and the plastigague are at ROOM TEMPERATURE! Otherwise your results will be innacurate.
