Stillen Y-pipe = not street legal?

I received my Stillen Y-pipe 2 weeks ago, and I have an appointment at a local shop to have it installed. When I opened it up I noticed it said "not for street use, off-road use only" But I didn't think anything. I thought I would just tell them it's legal if they ask. So today as I'm examining the pipe, I noticed a part welded onto the pipe saying "this pipe is for race vehical's only, not legal for highway use" So I'm wondering if the shop will put it on even with that on it. I thought Y-pipes were street legal or are Y-pipe's illegal?

p.s. I searched and nothing came up =\

Y pipes are not legal. Some shops will install them, some won't.

An hour or two, it can take that much time just to remove your O2 sensors if you don't have the right tools and if they are stuck on there real good. Get your penetrating oil and cheater bar ready. Undoing exhaust pipe bolts can be a real headache. Plan to spend most of your day under your car.

Just take it to a local exhaust place, I doubt they will care. I wouldn't be suprised if most of those guys run straight pipes 364 days a year.

Well illegal yes, able to get by yes. The new y pipe you will be putting in has no pre-cat, emissions testing will not meet standards for inspections, but if the cat is warmed up prior to inspection, then you will pass, but i dunno how that works, i always leave my car overnight, and then its inspected, by that time it has cooled, find a cool mechanic, i did, buy him vodka at xmas, and passes everything

Here is a suggestion for all of you guys. Jeep guys do it all of the time b/c OEM chrysler exhause sux and was known to rust up really fast.

Find a shop close to your house and have them REMOVE the old exhaust. Might run you $25. Then drive home gingerly and just install the new stuff @ home. Much cheaper, saves on the troublesome part (removal), and still make this a DIY project.

I'm not surprised with Stillen!

For that much money, the least they can do is give you a little plaque!!!

^ yeah, chain places probably won't do it for you, you really need to go to a local place most likely.
