my max is runnin great. CAI + y-pipe + muffler makes a great combo for now... but it feels kinda weird knowin 1/2 of my exhaust system is stock in the middle should i go for a straight pipe first or b-pipe?

B-pipe....Cause with a straight pipe you won't pass emmissions (unless your in fl like me where there is none + i think b-pipe has bigger gains and might make a sound difference where as straight pipe has hardly any gain and no sound difference...

Get a B-pipe, they are good for about 3-5 HP. I would not even bother getting a straight pipe, since they give you harldy any gains and are bad for the enviroment. Not worth the cost IMO...

^ Actually, since they are available for like 30 bucks, I wouldn't say that they aren't worth the cost. Even if you get 3hp the hp/price ratio is just as good as a budget y-pipe.

You can just send me the $30 you would spend on a straight pipe. You get the same gains.

get the b pipe first, then get the straight pipe...
i would get the custom maxima one with resonator

note: but dont waste the extra money on their installation kit. it comes with some gaskets and I have already blown those cheap things up .. the pipe is great though ..

custommaxima.com does not sell b-pipe alone, only catbacks.

thx for the reply guys. most likely i'm goin for courtesy b-pipe. i thought about budget but they take ages to ship, so i'll choose courtesy over budget for $10.

as far as straight pipe, it's a 5 minutes 4 bolts application mod. $30 from budget probably gives me 1-2HP at most. heck, why not? it won't take me too long to change back to stock cat if it's too loud or smog testing. i will complete my exhaust system by then.

it'll take much more than 5 minutes to get your stock cat off...took the shop about 25 minutes to get mind off and they had a plasma torch. The bolts under there are rusted beyond any rush known to man, AND to top it off one of the bolts is at the worst possible angle....cat's were meant to stay on i guess

if you want a straight pipe, why dont you get a custom bent pipe going right from the Y pipe directly to the muffler?

You get a straight pipe instead of a b-pipe that connects directly to the y-pipe, so you can still use a cat for emissions or if you just want the main cat on the car again.

You're gonna need something stronger than WD-40. I had to saw off all 4 bolts and then drill them out and replace with newbolts. Try Liquid Wrench for a better alternative to WD-40.

Your gonna need something like liquid wrench although i call it plasma torch. Trust me your not getting those off without cutting, melting or dynomiting them off, and i wouldn't even trust the dynomite working

Why do you guys claim that B-pipe gives more gains with comparrison to straight pipe? Do you have any dyno-proofs? Because logically thinking, straight pipe should give more gains. 1st, it is closer to the engine and the closer you are to the engine, the more important it is not to restrict in any way the exhaust gasses. 2nd, by removing the CAT and placing a straight pipe you actually eliminate physical obstacles for the gasses throughout the entire cross-section of the pipe. I believe everyone has looked through a CAT. You can barely see the light on the other side. And by eliminating all these metal meshes inside the cat, you should gain more, compared to just increasing the the diameter of the B-pipe.
Otherwise I agree it is BAD for the environment.

yea thats great... but not true. changing the b pipe would give you more results because of the "quality" of the stock piping. for aftermarket, are you guys going with resonator or not? affect or performance or just noise?

How much louder will the car be with the addition of the B-pipe with and without resonator? Also is there a difference in sound from Budget to Courtesy? I have Budget Ypipe, Intake, Magnaflow muffler and it is pretty quiet right now, but i want a deeper/louder growl.

I ordered a Budget B and Y Pipe on Tuesday. Cost me $385 ($510 cdn). I was told "Will be there by the end of the week, as long as customs is not backed up." Honestly, I expect it in two weeks. Great price, free shipping, and I am not even questioning the quality.
