5 speed Tranny problem

hey i got my 96 max 5 months ago with 68k on it. replaced the clutch at 69500, when i drive and go to switch from 1st to 2nd gear it feels like the shifter pops out of gear extremely easily. i was wondering if that is a sign of tranny failure. it doesnt happen very often. thanks

is this at high rpm or low rpm shifts? In my past 2 max's the shifter left first very easily if at an appropriate rpm just becase thats where the revs matched for 2nd.

If you search you will find great info and a write up on how to check the detent system. It is fairly easy but kinda messy.

Maybe you should have your engine checked out if it's running up to 30,000rpm or more...

Well, I also have a shifter problem. My shifter (short shifter) gets really, really stiff and starts creaking like hell after driving a while. Think its time for new tranny oil or something? I dont know what to do.
