My mid rannge is drastically improved, I could feel it right away. I also just had a lightend flywheel installed so I think that is helping even more, especially in 1st gear.
The 1-2 shift is very powerfull, I am right smack dab in the power band after the shift. I can really break the tires loose on that shift as well.
I have not had a chance to really take the car through the paces. I have yet to hit the redline, but have visited an indicated 7300 rpms a few times.

send them $1300 and then send them your ECU once you get the JWT ECU. once they get your stock ECU...they will give you $700 back for it.

Fast, I doubt it.....

Just get a used or salvaged ECU to use while yours is being upgraded. They can be had for around $100 on ebay, the FS forums or online used parts stores.

isnt there a programmar for the ECU ? $600 is a steep price to pay for someone to add some codes to the ECU. I have direct tv at home and we have a little programmer that updates the little chip every time we need it. Shouldn't there be something similar for our cars that can be at a much lower price? Just wondering

You sir, have just won the concentric circles award.

That is absoltely one of the dumbest things I've ever heard... but then again, I'm a computer engineer, so I am biased because I have an idea about how much work went in to making those few "codes" - nothing like direct tv access codes.

Yes, $600 is a bit much. But when your the only game in town you can pretty much do what you want.

I'm surprised no one has attempted to reverse engineer it..
We have a few engineer's on this board...

you can use the 95/96 JWT ECU in a 97 and 98 model but you will get a CEL...it cannot be used with a 99 period. i believe the wire harness that goes into the ECU is totally different for the 99. that is the impression i am under at least.

Everyone who is complaining about the price of the JWT ecu should look into a Technosquare/G Force ecu. I bought one about a month ago and I am very impressed with my gains. It costs only $380 and the turnaround time is great. I expressed mailed my ECU on a Monday, they received it on a Tuesday, reprogrammed and got it back to me by Wednesday. This ECU does everything the JWT does except raise the rev limiter so if you have a MEVI then this is not for you. Just my 2 cents.

That's the first time I've read that it can be used on a 98 as well. The only reason I am posting is because I am VERY interested in the MEVI/JWT ECU combo in my 98 and am curious if anyone else can voucher for the JWT ECU in a 98.

I've heard of several people putting it in a 97/98 - you just get a permanent CEL.

Is there dyno data to back that up? Yeah JWT raises the redline but power vs power w/o that who's proven the JWT is stronger?

Please let us all know the facts you have that prove that the JWT is so much better besides the rev limiter?

1) The JWT ECU is "tried and true". I've never read about anyone having problems with their ECUs other than CELs because they're running 95/96 ECUs in 97s.

2) G-Force ECUs offer about the same power gains as the JWT, but you don't get the raised rev-limiter which is MANDATORY for the MEVI setup.

3) People have had problems with the G-Force ECUs which required returns.

4) JWT ECUs are overpriced, but like others have said, they're the only game in town. Also, they end up soldering on a different circut board to the OEM ecu which includes their programs. Unfortunately, the Nissan ECU isn't like the GM ECUs which can be programmed with a "Hypertech programmers" or something along those lines.

5) The JWT ECU is awesome. I wish I had bought it A LONG TIME AGO!!!!

yes there is dyno charts to back it up.. i really don't feel like searching for it right now.. but the JWT gives 11 fwhp / 15 tq vs the G Force gives 6 fwhp / 8 tq .. the G Force when track tested only gave 1 mph and .1 secs faster on 1/4 mile time.. where the JWT gave as much as 4 mph / .4 secs faster.

I have had many of flame wars for over 2 years with Cheston over this issue.. this isn't new.. anyone who has been here for the last 2 years would have seen the fights in General forum..

Chris Tang aka Woodear had a challege to Cheston to have a car dyno'd here in NY to have simular gains.. and Cheston just brushed it off..

see the trick that no one noticed was the G Force ECU gave cheston's car a total of 11 fwhp gained, however... when cheston dyno'd with the ECU prior reprogramming.. it was about 5 - 6 hp less than his stock 97 ECU..

so it went something like

96 G Force ECU - 180
97 Stock ECU - 174
96 Stock ECU - 168

so everyone looked at 96 ECU STock 168 and 96 G Force ECU 180 .. whoooo hooo 12 hp gained.. only a few people actually caught what was really going on.

Ask Confused and others who sold their G Force ECU's shortly after purchasing them..

I have beaten this topic to death already.. but the fact still remains.. the JWT 0wn3d the G Force.. so you guys suit your butt dyno's and your wallets and go ahead and buy G Force

Thats good an all but since I have no plans on buying a MEVI I am completely satisfied with my G - Force as is everyone who has bought one in the past two months from G - Force. And I don't think that your correct on the power becuase what G - Force actually does is give everyone a custom program to what modifications they hav done to there car. When I purchased mine, the first thing the guy said is to make sure I have a list of the exact performance modifications I have or will be adding in the future to this car. So it doesn't just improve your ECU but the ECU improves the gains on all other mods you may have on the car as well.

Besides nitrous, SC or turbo I don't think it mattter what mods you have. I could be wrong but how can they custom tune the ECU to having a Y-pipe???
