Does anyone happen to know what the resistance of the line pressure resistor is supposed to be? I am talking about the resistor that some unplug to get faster shifts with their AT.
I just want to check if its within specs or not. It may be 10-15 Ohms but the member that said that wasn't sure. I checked Haynes and Chiltons and it's not there. If someone has a FSM and look it up I'd appreciate it...

Since you knew that, perhaps you know this - would it matter if mine is 13 Ohms? I get harder than usual shifts.

It must be 12 Ohms, not 12 kOhms because I checked mine yesterday and it was 13 Ohms. I doubt that it would drop from 13,000 Ohms to 13 Ohms if it was bad on my car and make shifts a little firmer - I think it would slam into each gear if difference was that big.

So it's supposed to be 12 Ohms and mine is 13 Ohms - that's almost 10% difference. Anyone think that 10 % would make any difference in smoothnes of the shifts?

My car shifts VERY hard into 2nd...I'm also curious about this

The difference between 12 and 13 Ohms will make no difference Zirafa. I have tried pretty well every resistance from 12 to 0 and 12 to 1000 to try and find a middle ground for the line pressure. Its not there, its either normal or full line pressure there is no in between using the drop resistor.

This is a mod, no its not hard, and it is only for automatic. From my understanding you install a switch to disconnect the resistor, well that's all I did. Go to mzmtg's homepage to see his picture of it. I think he was the first to do it, he also had a write up somewhere. Anyway cut either wire going to the litte metal resistor thing (on the drivers side strut tower), and install a switch inside the car. Mine is in the kick panel, mzmtg's is in his coin holder, jime's is a WOT switch (I think) so his set up is a little different Note: this can trip your MIL light, and the O/D light flashes a code on startup (after using it). Someone else add there imput if different.
