Damn you got 462.5 that's pretty good, that comes out roughly about 25 mpg. I have a 97 max SE 5sp that got 385m or 20.8.

my average is 260miles and that's because i know i have a problem somewhere (and a heavy foot )

anything above 400 is on par with economic driving

I used to get that when I was fully stock. The highway mileage went up after installing my intake.

MY car is all stock right now and the 462 I got was my personal best, would say that my average is about 380, The 462 was with conservative driving like shifting between 2000-3000 rpm and cruising in 5th gear a lot, but with the torquey engine, you can do that with no problem, you guys should try it sometime, your fuel mileage will go up. At the 3/4 mark, my miles are around 90-100, at the 1/2 mark, its around 210-245. You just have to have the dicipline not to want to gun it. The reward is over 400 miles on a tank!

How many gallons was used to fill up the tank? I doubt that you emptied the entire tank.

Hmmm.... A week ago, a 10 gallon gives me around 150 miles. This week, same drive style. I fill it all the way up. Is almost close to half a tank now and i'm getting around 100 for half a tank. Is going to be a far reach for me to get 400 from a full tank. My car is stock, nothing added except the FSB.

geez, maybe im doing somethign wrong or very right. I also put in 92 octane, and i get just over 400 on average, and it equals out to be like 28 - 32 MPG, and that is not all highway, half of the time im cruising at 60 MPH but the other half is stop go local city driving. its a 99 Maxima SE-L

I reset my trip odometer every time I fill up, and I rarely let it see less than a 1/4 tank. But for every 1/4 tank of gas I use it's a 100-110 miles on the trip odometer. I usually just fill up every 300 miles cuz it's easy to figure out the gas mileage with a big round #. Whenever I'm at 300 miles I'm very close to 1/4 tank on the gas gauge.

When I calculate it out I usually get from 25-27 mpg with the ac on. I live in Southern California and do about 60/40 freeway/street driving. I can get 462 plus on a full tank and running that down really low before the light comes on. Anybody know exactly how much the tank holds. I'm guessing 16 gallons. Also does anybody know how much gas is left in the tank when the light comes on?

Just got back from a trip...456 to the tank, this includes almost 2 hours of straight city driving. (cruising) the rest are highway miles.

WTF...I am lucky to get 280 miles per tank. What is wrong with my car? Fuel filter? Spark plugs? Tune-up?

I travel a lot and just started to track mileage. Got 23.5 on last tankful and that was with A/C

I have a 95 GLE and can get close to 500 mostly highway when I add Chevron fuel system cleaner. I average 135-150 by the time it touches the 3/4 tank mark. I have a y-pipe and k&n cone filter. I also have heavy 18in. wheels and a heavy sub box in the trunk.

High octane will usually give you more mileage, but of course, you spend more for it.

ok, i'm officially getting new 02 sensors. My gas mileage is horrible. I gun it sometimes but not all the time and i know people that have done worst and still get better gas mileage. I'm only averaging 260-280 a tank and this tank i'm working on now is at the 1/4 mark with 187 miles in...i dont do any highway driving but it should be more than this, i'm on the verge of getting less than 250 mpt. At my best, i get 50 when i hit F line, i get 125 when i hit 3/4, i get 175 when i go halfway and 250 when i'm at 1/4 and 280ish before i finally put gas in car again...

wow...some people here r getting terible gas mileage...Usuall,when the light comes on there is aprox 1 1/2 -2 gal left...The gas tank size is 17.5 gal,so 400 miles or more should be easy to get... I did about 435 before the light comes on. I used the ac sometimes ,but the figure is still good at little over 27 miles .I wonder if the folks that get bad gas mileage have bad KS,or the car needs some attention.Or maybe both.
Driving to Fla.at the end of the month...and I expect to get 30 or more hiway miles...We ll see..

I was able to stuff about 17.9 gallons in it a few weeks back, the gas pump clicks off way before it should, I usually continue to fill it for a bit. Astil, your figures sound about right on with mine. I am currently slightly about the 1/2 mark on the guage and I have 215 on this trip, we'll see what happens, BTW I am using mid grade 89 octane. I got my 462 mpt on 89 octane.

The factory rated the gas tank at 18 gallons didn't it?? I wonder if I will get even better mpg once I get an intake? I am confident that if I drove on a long freeway trip, my car would do 470-480. I remember that when I rented a low mileage 2002 toyota Camry LE with a 4 cylinder engine ( it had like 7000 miles on it) and automatic, I got 498 miles on the tank and I thought that was impressive.

Our tank supposedly holds 18.5 gallons (but I've never fit more than 16 in there.) My light must come on at 15.5 gallons. Anyway, my best was 440 miles on 16 gallons for a 27.5mpg average, and the light was on for like 40 miles. Didn't want to chance it any farther. Not too shabby for a 3.0L V6 and a 3100lb. car. Driving style makes a big differernce, but so does maintenance. Old o2 sensors etc. will all affect overall efficiency.

I personally noted a 5% increase in mileage when I went to a cone filter, but a 5% decrease after I went to 225/50/16 tires. Funny how small variables make a noticable difference over time. Wonder what a MEVI, y-pipe and cat-back would do to my mileage (assuming I didn't always drive with my foot in the water pump!)

Ciao,
TOM

I think I'm on my way to that. I'm at around 230 on my first half tank in my new '95 5spd.

I am only averaging about 20 mpg right now in town. I was actually wondering why it was so low. Is there anything that will help considerably? I have tried the premium gas, but no go.

(bragging for the 198234508th time) Driving to the NJ meet in June (from VA), I managed 470+ miles on 15.5(?) gallons = 30+mpg! Usually after fill-up, the gas gauge doesn't move off of "full" until around 70 miles; 'round 100 miles on all highway.

This from a 99SE-L automatic with no performance mods & 144k miles.

Couple of weeks ago I went from Sea World in San Diego all the way to Scottsdale, AZ on one tank (the WHOLE tank) with the A/C blasting all the way avg. speed of 85mph. I didn't check the milage but on the way out I was averaging 23mpg w/ A/C. I'm running all stock with Bosch Plats.
