Question about VI activating ??

Plurco thanks alot for all your wireing infomation on your website...I did all the same things as you, even the LED, exept I got signal from the 6th Coil in the engine bay..Its worked every time since I finished it up

Now I have the Harlan set at 5000rpms but the light doesnt come on till about 5200 ?? I know its mecanical and it does take alittle bit to come on, but idk...maybe because its sweeping but 5000 fast ??
some help please

Maxima tachometers are not accurate. They register a couple of hundred rpm faster than actual.

I would not worry about what the tach says, I would trust the signal the coil is sending to the harlan. It' probably a combination of the tach being slightly off and the VI needing a split second to activate.

Well it hits on 6800 but not on 6900 or 7000, so I hope your right on this one.

Even though the tach reads 7400 at time of cutoff, and when set at 5k it goes off at 5400 on the tach.

I made a shiftlight using an extra Harlan I had. Although the tach puts redline at 6500 rpm, the actual fuel cutoff is at 6400 rpm according to my dyno plot. I've seen this on other dynos, too. So I set the Harlan for 6300 rpm and the shiftlight came on exactly when the fuel cutoff kicked in. I had to set the Harlan to 6200 to keep from hitting fuel cutoff. I don't know if this indicates some inaccuracy in the Harlan or if there is enough lag in the shift light circuit (I'm using a relay) that I get a 100 rpm delay between when the Harlan triggers and my shiftlight comes on.
