I said yeah......I'll race you.......and he was acting like he was all kewl and said he had a turbo 2.5L turbo4....... I went to a site and it statd that those cars *DO* have 175-225hp.......that does not sound good for me considering that his car is light compared to mine.......should I race him? He says heez beaten a lot of cars.....but has never raced a Max and he heard they r pretty swift.......should I or no? We are supposd to race the next time we see each other......hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Not that I know much, but...

What you've got going for you is your tourque. The better the start you get, the bigger the advantage you'll have. But, Like you said, he's a light car. Assuming that he's got 225 HP with the turbo, he'll come back at the higher speeds and RPMs. That's just my logic on the weight/tourque/HP ratio. Other than that, I don't know the other car well enough to suggest.

You'll take him easily

I have had a bunch of those Chrysler Turbo 4's and the 2.5 T1 made 150 HP and 180 LB of torque. They have lots of turbo lag so you should have him for lunch. My brother had an 89 Daytona T1 and I could pull him starting my Maxima in 2nd gear.
Check out http://www.allpar.com/mopar/22t.html for specs on his engine (they talk about the 2.5 around halfway down the page).

I drove a Daytona with a similar engine and it had major turbo lag plus it was an auto. However my friend showed me how he "spooled up" the turbo (he brake torqued it and let the turbo build up boost) and his launches were killer.

But you can still take him - just don't roast the tires at the start.
