Please HELP!!! Brakes are stuck!

Tonight my E-brake seems to have "self adjusted" itself. My rear pads are clamped on the rotor, and I can barely move my ebrake lever. The cable is VERY tight, aand will not let go. What caused this, and what can I do?
(99 SE 5spd)
Thanks in advance!
Brian

Update! After letting them cool, things appear to have returned to normal. Any ideas what may have happened? Think that the cable was stuck? Brake fluid got too hot? Any ideas?

Some people have had problems with their ebrake cable freezing. Try cleaning/lubricating the cable in the sheath back by the rear brakes as much you can. I think there was even a TSB on this (an advisory from Nissan to their mechanics, but not a free fix).
