95 Max has bad door checks

95 Max has bad door checks

After 8 years, the passenger door checks went bad. the doors stick and wont swing any more. any one else have this experience...?

can't say i have. don't know what to tell ya. take a trip down to the local STEALERship.....pay a whole bunch of $...get it fixed. what do you mean by door checks? the black lever apparatus?

The doors dont swing at all. They basically stay in place depending how far you pull or push the door.

I tried greasing the hinges but they only lasted a few days till the problem came back again.

A friend had had his replaced in his BMW and said it might be the problem.

I've read other post about the same problem. Seem to remember a TSB on the early 4th gen ones (not a free fix, just a heads up on how to fix). My passenger door is doing the same thing. I believe the part (door check, door stop, or whatever else they call it) is about $20.

thanks dave. Both front and rear passenger doors are having this problem in my car. If anyone has a url or link to the bulletin, id appreciate it.

I had the same problem with my 96. Both doors were very hard to open/close. I replaced both door checks, I think they were 20 bucks a piece, but they work good now!
